Late on the
afternoon of December 9, 1965, a brilliant fireball lit up the
skies over Ontario, and several states. When the object passed
over the Pittsburgh, PA. area, the phone lines were jammed at
the news media outlets as observers were calling in to find out
what the object was. That object reportedly fell into a wooded
area about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, near the village
of Kecksburg in Westmoreland County. It is now known that a number
of witnesses went down into the wooded ravine that day, and say
they saw a large metallic acorn shaped device with strange markings,
semi-buried in the ground.
The
events that evening took on more interest as military personnel
and equipment descended on that small rural community, and cordoned
off the area to search for the object. Late that night, a large
military flat bed tractor trailer truck was observed hauling a
large covered object away from that area at a high rate of speed.
The official explanation the next day was that nothing had been
found, that witnesses had only seen a bright meteor in the sky.
Researcher
Stan Gordon of Greensburg, has been pursuing the case since it
occurred in 1965. Nearly 41 years later, Gordon is still investigating
the matter, and he continues to obtain new details. Stan Gordon
will be presenting an illustrated lecture on the Kecksburg UFO
crash incident, and he will discuss the latest findings on this
mystery,which has attracted worldwide interest.
This
event will take place on October 9, 2006, at 7:00 P.M. at the
Morris Township Community Center at Nineveh, PA in Greene County.
After the lecture, the audience is invited to participate in a
question & answer session about the Kecksburg UFO or other
statewide UFO cases, or other mysterious events which Gordon has
also investigated.
