The Kecksburg,
PA volunteer fire department, is holding their "Old Fashion
Festival Days" on September 16th and 17th. There are many
exciting activities planned for the two day event including fireworks
on Saturday night. The village of Kecksburg is located about 40
miles SE of Pittsburgh in Westmoreland County. Kecksburg has become
a familiar landmark to many as a location where a mysterious object
fell from the sky into a nearby wooded area in 1965. What that
object was still remains unsolved.
Among
the exhibits will be the Kecksburg V.F.D. UFO Stand. Stan Gordon
who has been investigating that local UFO occurrence for many
years, will be on hand to talk with visitors about the incident,
and will display some visual materials concerning the event. At
the UFO stand, visitors can help support the Kecksburg V.F.D.
and rescue squad by purchasing Kecksburg UFO memorabilia such
as UFO tee-shirts, golf shirts, and caps, as well as videos.
The
event on September 16th will be held from Noon until 10 P.M. and
on September 17th from Noon until 5 P.M.. For more details go
to the Kecksburg V.F.D. website at: www.kecksburgvfd.com.
While
attending the Old Fashion Days event, be sure to stop by and visit
the new Kecksburg UFO monument which is being built behind the
fire station. The monument which was expected to have been already
completed, had some construction delays, but should be open for
public viewing around the end of August.
